"Anonymous. Songs for an Unknown Character ” is a music series curated for Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum and Cervezas Alhambra, focused on exploring those characters that we contemplate in numerous works in the collection and of which we have no biographical account. Unknown characters, but protagonists in their time, to whom we want to dedicate this edition of Thyssen Appetizers, imagining a contemporary life story for each of them, with the complicity of the musicians participating in the cycle.
Based on this premise, the Asturian duo Elle Belga will be inspired by the play La abuela, by George Bellows, to pay tribute to the elderly who died from Covid-19. Reykjavik606's jazz-influenced electronica proposal will represent the idea of contemporary party around the work Grupo de musicos, by Jacob van Loo. For his part, the Colombian musician living in Madrid Julián Mayorga will dedicate his concert to the work La carta amorosa, by François Clouet, which will allow us to reflect on past and present love rituals, while Adiós Amores will be inspired for his concert in the feminist aspects of the work The Psyche Mirror, by the artist Berthe Morisot.

The electropop duo Hidrogenesse will be inspired by the work Portrait of a man like San Andrés, by the Master of the Macarena legend, relating it to the culture of the current image, and the Mallorcan band Zulu Zulu will connect the idea of post-truth with the Portrait of a Young Man, by the Master of the Lüneburg doomsday. Finally, the concert of the British soul artist Bryony Jarman-Pinto will be inspired by contemporary gender identities through the protagonist of the work Portrait of a Child, by Piero Della Francesca.
In this way, each invited musician will dialogue with one of these "orphaned" characters in history, bringing them to the fore, and paying homage to them through their music.
